Bryan's Quick & Dirty Guide to Conscious Leadership
I'm just going to cut to the chase... there are three essential parts to becoming a Conscious Leader: Awareness, Acceptance, and Creation. Here is a graphic I made... to illustrate that when one has a list of three, one must make a triangle. Explanation to follow.
Awareness
Becoming aware of your own mental, emotional, behavioral, and relationship patterns, and how they affect the world around you, really puts the "con" in Conscious Leadership. Tools like meditation, journaling, 360 reviews, and even my free Leadership Assessment can help build self-awareness.
Acceptance
"God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference."
- Reinhold Niebuhr
Acceptance is being okay with things as they are right now: situations, emotions, thoughts, pain, relationships. *A practice often missed in our go-go Western culture, but well-honed in Eastern cultures (thanks to Buddhist and Vedic philosophies). Tools include Vipassana-style meditations, breathing exercises, staring at sunsets/puppies/children, and letting go of the past (i.e. forgiveness).
Creation
Quantum physics principles, such as the Observer Effect and Quantum Entanglement prove we have the ability to create our reality. Goal setting, visualization, Law of Attraction, and Nuerolinguistic Programming (NLP) are just a few tools that you can use to create.
Putting it All Together
If you are new to all this, start with building awareness, then practice acceptance, then play with creation.
Ultimately, all three should be used in balance. If you have too much awareness, then you're just annoyed all the time (trust me, I've been there). If you have too much acceptance, then you're a push-over. If you create without the other two tools, then you are creating from a place of ignorance, which leads to materialism and anxiety.
By learning to balance all three, you will begin to experience lasting joy, peace, and success while making a sustainable, and self-reinforcing, positive impact on the world around you.
That, my friends, is Conscious Leadership!
